Estonian radio-frequency engineering company Rantelon OÜ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with partners to develop a new concept for frontline logistics operations.
The agreement was signed on 10 September during the MSPO defence exhibition in Kielce, Poland. The signatories are Rantelon, CENZIN sp. z o.o. from the PGZ Group, DEMARKO S.A., Volvo Defence AB, Nordic Shelters AS, Octava Defence UAB and Barbwings Ltd, according to CENZIN’s announcement.
The partners will jointly explore a Frontline Logistics Operations Concept intended for units operating close to the frontline. It responds to conditions described in recent large-scale conflicts, in which logistics units have faced persistent threats from unmanned aerial systems, loitering munitions, precision-guided weapons, and long-range strike capabilities.
Rantelon brings RF expertise to the concept
The proposed concept covers the rapid deployment of materiel and supplies, equipment recovery and medical evacuation support near the frontline.
It will combine physical logistics infrastructure with protection and recovery measures. The partners will explore containerised field logistics hubs, dispersed, unpaved transportation routes, enhanced counter-UAS capabilities, and improved support for armoured, mechanised, and artillery units operating alongside Allied and coalition forces.
Mobile hubs and dispersed transport routes
According to Rantelon’s press release, the partners will assess containerised field logistics hubs and the use of dispersed transport routes, including unpaved roads. A big focus will be on counter-UAS capabilities, as the need to protect logistics movements and support infrastructure against aerial threats has grown on the modern battlefield. All in all, the end goal is to respond to the needs of armoured, mechanised and artillery units operating alongside Allied and coalition forces.
Cooperation across the Eastern Flank and the Nordic region
The work is linked to longer-term European and NATO defence initiatives concerning critical infrastructure and military mobility across NATO’s Eastern Flank and the Nordic region. By combining the capabilities of companies from NATO and partner countries, the signatories will explore a common approach to logistics support in contested environments. The MoU establishes a framework for the partners to develop the concept and assess potential solutions for more mobile, resilient and effective frontline logistics operations.
