Estonian defence company Rantelon has signed a cooperation agreement with Cenzin, a subsidiary of the Polish state-owned defence group PGZ, bringing counter-UAS and surveillance systems tested in Ukraine to the Polish Armed Forces.
The partnership strengthens the defence capabilities of NATO’s Eastern Flank at a time of growing demand for effective countermeasures against hybrid threats.
“We are currently in a rapid growth phase, and by now, over 90% of our turnover comes from the defence industry sector. This reflects both global demand and our ability to develop technology that is indispensable in today’s security situation.”
Karl Taklaja, Rantelon CEO
According to Rantelon CEO Karl Taklaja, the cooperation is focused on the swift enhancement of security. “Together with Cenzin, we are already preparing the first practical projects to develop defence technologies and introduce Estonian radio electronics and drone detection solutions to the Polish market. This makes a direct contribution to the defence capability of the entire region,” Taklaja noted.
As Kamil Wereszczyński, Director of the Land Forces Equipment Department at Cenzin, a company within the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, explains, the selection of Estonian technology is an important part of the company’s efforts to expand its offering for the defence and security sectors. “Our priority is to deliver proven, high-quality technological solutions, and our cooperation with Rantelon is based on the company’s demonstrated operational experience and practical expertise in countering unmanned systems.”
Global demand fuels Rantelon’s rapid rise
The Estonian defence industry has seen rapid growth in recent years. While a large portion of the Rantelon’s revenue in 2021 came from electronics produced for the warehouse robotics sector, defence now accounts for over 90% of its turnover. “Global demand for defence technology has surged, and Estonian companies are able to provide solutions that meet the demands of today’s security environment,” Taklaja added.
