The visitors of the world exhibition EXPO Milan had a chance to try the unique sport kiiking in the middle of August, which turned out to be a real star attraction. The Guinness kiiking record attempt however will take place by Estonians in the Estonian pavilion in Italy.
Over half of the world exhibition is over by today and the second half is ahead, which will last until the end of October. 1.5 million people have visited the Estonian pavilion in the first three months. Our pavilion offers entertainment and different events during the remaining months as well.
Numerous events have been carried out in the Estonian pavilion during the three months and it has been visited by high-level delegations from various countries. Several business delegations have been met, for example from France, Monaco and Lithuania. The Estonian pavilion has been visited by ministers of many countries, incl. the Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves and our Minister of Enterprise and Culture.
The Estonian national day and a seminar on the Estonian tourism sector took place at the beginning of June for local tourism journalists and representatives of the tourism industry. Local Italian entrepreneurs attended the transport and logistics seminar that took place at the beginning of July, to whom our services and business opportunities were introduced. Entertainment events have been organised in the pavilion among other things, for example concerts of Estonian orchestras and ensembles and the Embassy of Fashion fashion show took place.
The Estonian rye days took place at the beginning of August, the Restoration of Independence Day and the Estonian barbeque day are also celebrated. In October however the Estonian pavilion will be visited by Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas, Robotex events and the IT conference will take place. In addition performances by several Estonian ensembles and DJs are planned.
The stationary exhibition “Good Estonian things” (“Head Eesti asjad”) is also growing. Ideas of the students of the Estonian Academy of Arts are exhibited in three nest boxes of the pavilion from August. The students have focused on the main topics of the world exhibition in the structure of two of the boxes – food and nature, and the Estonian winter can be enjoyed in the third box. The Tallinn University of Technology, the University of Tartu and Tallinn University are represented with their own display in the Estonian science box from September.
