Sangaste Rye Village is located in the picturesque South Estonia; in the place where 140 years ago, Count Friedrich Georg Magnus von Berg developed the rye variety Sangaste, today the oldest and most dignified in the world. The non-profit organisation Sangaste Rukkiküla MTÜ is a cooperation network of companies and citizens of the region, the objective of which is to promote business and tourism in Sangaste area. We want to become a leading centre of food and agricultural tourism in Europe. This year, we will be holding the 10th Sangaste Rye Day – a cheerful festival for promoting the recognition of rye, the national crop of Estonia, both home and abroad.
